Hi, my name is Tobias Gradinger, 22 years old.
My sportive "career" started at the age of 9 with rowing. I competed in many boat races until the age of 15.
Then, my training partner left for the U.S. for one year and I started lifting weights. I never returned to rowing but still do my weight training at the rowing club. I graduated from school in 2003, then traveled through Australia and started studying Germanistic and Philosophy. But this didn't last for long, as I "got" the uncureable disease, Ulcerative Colitis, and had to spend over one year not even being able to leave my bed/toilette. As all the usual medication didn't work, I took part in a study with a new medication. Today the battle against this disease has already lasted for over 3 years.
In June, 2006, I returned to lifting weights. The UC still doesn't allow for a normal life, but I do my best to still accomplish my goals in life and in lifting.
My training consists of powerlifting and strongmen type movements. I also try to teach myself the power variations of the olympic lifts.
I write the training plans and do some coaching for about ten people now.
One day in my life, I want to be able to start MMA-training and step in the ring for at least one fight. Taking part in a strongman competition would also be a nice thing.
But... so far I'm pleased with being able to train at all.
