Member 00035: Deadly Shaolin
My name is Sean and I’m 26 years old. I’m the latest in a long line of martial artists – my father and grandfather both taught shaolin kung fu and tai chi, which inspired my love for the martial arts and explains my nickname.
I grew up in Orange County, California, but have been living in New York City for the past five years attending Columbia University College of Physicians & Surgeons. I’ll be graduating this spring with my medical degree and will begin my residency in anesthesiology in July.
I fell into the lifting game back in high school, when I was on the water polo and swim teams. Lifting back then consisted of bodybuilding routines gleaned from the pages of “popular” men’s magazines. My lifting program improved somewhat in college, where I was a four year starter on Harvard’s Div I water polo team, but squats, deadlifts, and other powerlifting exercises did not enter into my lifting vocabulary until late 2005, when I discovered the S&P forum on Sherdog. Suffice it to say that I’ve never felt stronger in my life.
My medical studies keep me pretty busy, but I like to spend what free time I have lifting, kickboxing, practicing Brazilian jiu-jitsu, and helping out with Columbia’s club water polo team. ...And, of course, spending time with my lovely girlfriend, Jennifer.
